David Bruzina

David Arata Shibuya Bruzina was born in Lexington, Kentucky in 1972. A teacher, writer, and community activist, he has lived in Kentucky, Germany, Austria, Minnesota, California, North Carolina, Virginia, and Ohio. He is a graduate of Macalester College (BA, philosophy, English, sociology), the MFA program at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (poetry), Virginia Tech (MA, philosophy), and Ohio University (Ph.D., 20th century American poetry and creative writing). Bruzina has taught in the English departments at UNC-Greensboro, Ohio University; The Governor's School of North Carolina; and directed the Gathering Place Writing project in Athens, Ohio. His poems have appeared in Third Coast, StorySouth, The Greensboro Review, and Cultural Logic. He likes dogs and chicken and dumplings.
