Carmen Menéndez earned an M.A from Blooomington, I.U., in Comparative Literature before turning to architecture and linguistics. She is interested in traditional architecture and has written a dissertation on thatching in West Europe. As a linguist she has specialised in terminology and is the author of several bilingual dictionaries of architecture. She teaches Applied Linguistics at the Architecture School in Madrid Polytechnic University. She has lived and worked in New England and the Midwest, and also in Bordeaux, France, where her son was born.
